1. Jews are deported from Sighet.( The Jews in Sighet are stripped of there belongings, and forced out of there homes, they are forced in cattle wagons, and taken to concentration camps.
2. Jews go to Faschua then to Auschwitz. (The Jews in the cattle wagon make there first stop at Faschua. As they continue there journey an older lady named Madame Schachter yells out "Fire". Everybody thinks that she is crazy. Other people in the wagon try to hush her up. They did not believe her untill they really did see a fire, and found out they were at a labor camp in Auschwitz.)
3. Eliezers dad gets hit by the Gypsy. ( While in the barracks Eliezers dad asked a Gypsy where are the lavatories? The mean man hit his dad and he fell to the floor.)
4. The Jews go on a long walk from Auschwitz to buna. (In Buna the new work camp Eliezer has to get his gold crowned removed. Also at Buna Eliezer and his dad are beaten by Idek. Idek is a Kapo who is incharge of Eliezers work crew.)
5. Eliezer and his dad choose to be evacuated. ( They evacuate before the Russians arrive. Eliezer and the rest of the Jews evacuate from Buna in the middle of a huge snowstorm.)
6. Prisoners run for a long time.( When evacuating from Buna The jews run for a super long time. They must run or get shot. Many people die due to starvation and because of the cold wheather. They finally arrive at Gliewitz camp where they fall asleep.)
7. Jews go to buckenwald. ( While in the catttle cars everybody is starving. A man in the cattle car gets a piece of bread. Eliezer witnesses his own son beat the man for the bread. Also on the way Eliezer is attacked.)
8. Eliezers dad dies. (Eliezers dad is to weak to go on with the journey. He is very sick and there is nothing anyone can do for the dieing man. His dad is beaten by a SS officer and dies.)
9. Buckenwald is liberated.( Eliezer is freed and is determined to get food. He later gets food poisoning.)
Characterization: Eliezers dad - stock character- He is a stock character because he gives up and does not fight back. He ends up dieing. Just like all the other Jews he does not want it that bad to live.
Eliezer - Dynamic character - He fight through everything that goes wrong. He stays strong never gives up and in the end he lives when a lot of people end up dieing.
Moshe The Beadle- Round character- He is a hardworking man. He is very talkative, and nice. He gets along with everybody. After being taken away from Sighet and escaping to comeback he is not the same. After seeing a lot of bad things go on he no longer is talkative, he keeps to himself. Overall he is a much different person.
Idek- Dynamic character- He acts really nice to the girls, but to Eliezer and his dad he is very mean and cruel. In the book he attacks them both. In my opinion is a cruel person.
Themes: Life is rough. I think this is a theme because all throughout the book Eliezer has to do anything in his power to make sure he stays alive. It is not easy, and doing this is rough for him. In the end he ends up living to tell his story about his journey. He is a strong man who overcomes beatings, attacks, and many harsh moments. He takes a terrible situation and overcomes it by believing that he can make it through the hard times he was faceing.
Independence - In the book Eliezer has to learn to be independent. At first he is seperated from his mom and his three sisters. He stays with his dad but his dad ends up dieing. He has to be independent to live and survive the long journey that he encountered on.
Confidence - Eliezer has to be confident in order to continue threw the journey. At any given time he could give up, and end up dieing, but he shows that he is confident. He is determined that in the end something good will happen for him. It is like a boost of confidence that makes him want to keep going. If he was not confident from the beginning his journey would have ended early.
Motiffs: Religious Practices - Is a motiff because in the book it mentions Eliezers studying of the cabala with moshe the beatle when he was younger. He studies the Jewish religion. Also during the book the Jews prayed when they arrive at the camp. This happens throughout the book. Praying was a big deal for the Jews.
Night - Is a reoccuring word in the book. Ever time night is mentioned something bad happens.
Symbols: The creamatory. This symbolizes the germans cruelty to take the jews away from Sighet and take them to concentration camps. It shows how they took them to the creamatory and killed millions of Jews. It was a major cruelty that the Jews recieved. It showed that the Germans did not like the Jews.
Night - This symbolizes the bad things that happened at night. It was said to be that there was no god at night. It shows that bad things happen in the darkness of night. For instance it was night when the Jews went on the long run from Buna. It symbolizes that bad things happen.
Tones: Mad - Eliezer is mad at his dad when the Gypsy punched him and he did not fight back. Eliezer thought that he should have done something about it.
Sad - Eliezer is sad when his dad dies. He is also sad when he is seperated from the other members of his family.
Dark - The tone is dark because when I think of dark I think of bad things happening. For instance when Eliezer witnesses some guy get beat up by his own son. To me this gives of a dark mood.
Mood - Gloomy- Gloomy is a mood because The Jews were treated poorly. They were starved on the cattle wagons. People were sent to the creamatory. Prisoners do not know what is going to happen to them. They never know if they will die or not.
Serious- Eliezer tell the story serious. He does not tell any jokes, instead he tells the story just like it happened. He tells his story based on the real event. He does not make stuff up. Overall he is very serious.

Section 1
Section 1
(In section one the Jews are stripped of there valuables.)
(The Jews were taken away from Sighet, and put on these cattle wagons, where the conditions were terrible.)
Predictions - Jews will get taken away. The germans will take control of them. They will get treated like dirt, and live a terrible life.
Try - Why did the Jews not believe Moshe the Beadle? How did Moshe the Beadle manage to come back to Sighet?
Use - I remember when I didnt believe someone, but in the end that person was right just like Moshe the Beadle.
Clarify - If I was a Jew I would not let the Germans treat me the way the Germans treated the Jews in the book.
Review - Eliezers family is evacuated from Sighet and forced into cattle cars, and taken to concentration camps.
Section 2 -

Section 2 -
(In the book Madame Shachter claims she can see a fire in the distance. Nobody believes her untill they arive in Auschwitz.)
Predictions - The Jews will die in the concentration camps. Some will be forced to work, with little or no food. Conditions will be rough.
Try - How could Madame Schacter see a fire but the other Jews did not? How did she live after all the yelling and screaming she was doing?
Use - I have seen a huge fire in the distance before. I couldn't tell what it was untill i got closer. I saw a huge house fire down the road from me. Some people died.
Clarify - I'm suprised Madame Shachter wasn't killed. I woulda got annoyed and she would have died.
Review - They are transported from Sighet. They stop at two concentration camps. The biggest one being Aushwitz. There the witness the fire Madame Shachter was talking about.
Section 3 -

Section 3 -
(In section three the Jews were seperated in the camps. This picture shows men only in the barracks.)
Predictions - Eliezer and his dad will go to the creamatory. They will end up dying because they are to weak to work.
Try - why was Eliezer told to tell the officers he was 18, and why did his dad have to say he was 40? Why was Eliezer split up from his mom and sisters.
Use - When I was little I lost my mom in the mall. It was a sad moment. It was nothing like Eliezer getting split up from his family though.
Clarify - If I was Eliezers dad I would have punched the Gypsy back. I would of been mad at my dad for not doing anything back just like Eliezer was.
Review - In Aushwitz Eliezer and his dad are split up from the rest of his family. Him and his dad go to work in the Barracks.
Section 4 -
